Jun 08, 2009 Question: Q: Intel GMA X3100 driver update for OSX? After noticing lackluster running games on my Macbook, I did some research on the Intel GMA X3100 and have read reports that the Windows versions of the driver are more up to date and perform better than the OSX drivers. I'm using Clover, the only kexts so far being FakeSMC and Voodoo PS2. It boots to the desktop but runs extremely slowly with graphical artifacts. I'm pretty new to hackintosh, so please be understanding if I'm being a bit stupid. Thank you very much in advance. Update: Using the kext available here (thanks themacmeister): It seems to enable QE/CI!
Screensaver works now anyways, and the tops of windows are no longer broken. It also detects 144 MB of VRAM instead of only 4. The display is at the native resolution and it runs MUCH faster. I can even choose different resolution options in the Displays prefpane. However, it makes everything look very pixelated. With the Clover option PatchVBios, it is full resolution but the mouse lags and some of the tops of windows are messed up, logging in flickers, etc.
The patched kexts don't seem to do anything, and in conjunction with the Clover option there is no noticeable difference. This link doesn't do anything on its own but in conjunction with the Clover option it causes it to be full resolution, and recognized as the LCD instead of an external display, and prevents most of the graphics glitches, but causes it to be VERY pixelated. Like, the resolution is the native resolution of the display, and screenshots and the Displays prefpane show this, but it looks like shit. Also, with the kext in the link, it allows me to change the resolution and in System Information shows 144 MB of VRAM. Without it it is only 4 MB VRAM. It noticeably lags more as well. Any ideas what's going on here?
Update: With the kext mentioned above, it seems like QE/CI is even working!? This page: Tells me that if screensaver and chess work, then it is enabled. And both work.

So my only issue now is, why is it pixelated?
